Howie

Howie wants to light a fire of learning and understanding in Christians that will transform the church.
He has ongoing “lives” in religion and science.  In addition to his work as a priest, he teaches and consults as an epidemiologist.  The way these threads cross and re-cross brings richness and insight to his preaching and teaching.

A life-long Episcopalian and the son of an Episcopal priest, Howie was ordained in 2010 and has served congregations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.  In all of those places, he has worked to expand the reach of Christian education for all ages, developing programs and looking for new ways to make learning about the Christian experience engaging.
He runs, makes art, and is looking for a twelve-step program for book buying.  And with his beloved companion, Fr Jim, he continues to make his way as a pastor, teacher, and faithful follower of Jesus.

Jim is the kind of guy you can easily approach and talk to, because he is very much one of us… he’s fallible and honest. He seeks to follow Christ  each day.

Jim spent over 15 years in the Air Force, and received a Master’s Degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University. He was and is a trainer, educator, and an organizational development consultant.

He was “called” to the Episcopal church in 1999, and began his full-time work as a priest in 2006. “Religion, ethics, and, living a Gospel inspired life are very important.

Jim's priestly and podcast work is to inspire congregations and spiritual seekers to transform their lives with Jesus Christ, their neighbors, their parishes, and themselves.”

Jim enjoys reading/studying a variety of subjects, social networking, and watching way too much sports on ESPN. Jim also enjoys traveling and spending as much time as possible with his life companion of 15 years, the Rev. Dr. Howell Sasser, the other priest and dude on this podcast
